Friday 20 November 2015

50 miles over to Warmemunde from Barhöft. Marine still fairly full. Their season is 1.4 to 30.10.

Wednesday 14 October 2015

Just to ease the suspense, back to Neustadt on the 30.09.2015. End of season. Sailmaker cheerfully wrote sails off as scrap. We will not be going for laminated radial cut in future, rather low tech and robust.

Monday 28 September 2015

Went to Darsser Ort by bike. An emergency harbour, much fought over by nature conservation groups against yachties. We did not dare to stop here.

On to Zingst (seaside spa with a pier). Spent a few days there and descended below the waves in the diving bell!

Sunday 20 September 2015

Saturday back SE to Ralswiek on the Großer Jasmunder Bodden. Wonderful names. Discrete abode from 1893 for a Lord Douglas. 1945 taken over , now hotel.

Morning moment on Witte, Saturday.

Friday 18 September 2015

Sun, so out with the bikes. Discovered extension to marina at Kloster (North Hiddensee). The owner of the private harbour at Witte was not amused. 2.5 m Euro, 100% grant, but the local authority has no money for a gym hall.

Wednesday 16 September 2015

Gentle sail round to Witte on Hiddensee (island off NW Ruegen).
Two years ago there was an unfortunate incident at this very spot: the skipper dismantled his wrist. Have to go carefully this time.

Sunday 13 September 2015

Saturday over to Sassnitz (Ruegen).
Plenty of east wind for the 50 odd miles.

What to do with an ex ferry port. Built a fancy footbridge. Did not appear to vibrate.

Monday 7 September 2015

A useful weather tool for those who havenot already used it.

Sunday 6 September 2015

Just a view of the suroundings. Norrhamn is at the NW tip of Öja (Landsort).

Struck down with an Ague in Nyneshamn. But pottered on to Norrhamn on Öja (Landsort) today.
A discrete harbour which has avoided mention in the usual pilot books.

Thursday 6 August 2015

From Blidö down to Sandhamn. Filling up for the Regatta.
Wednesday on to Utö. SE 3-4 so pleasant run down.
Today discovered seafish restaurant down on SW corner of Utö.
Cycled past military area to get there. Platoon waiting to be served
when we got there. Rifles stowed under table and secured with a boot,
then tucked into prawns and salmon. Families and kids milling about.
Swedish sailor indicated this was part of the increased presence as a response to Putin.
No laughing matter.

Saturday 1 August 2015

From Arholma down to Blidö ( near Furusund). Here we have Helmi, built in 1880 to transport sand, gravel and timber. Now restored.
